Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who was caught by camera punching court sheriff Abe Andres on Friday, July 1, 2011, is facing a possible suspension or dismissal from public service because of the incident.
The incident happened when Sheriff Andres still pursue the execution of house demolition in Davao despite Mayor Duterte's requests to have it delayed in a bit while she gets her poor constituents out of the site, calmly.
Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo said in an interview with ABS-CBN's ANC channel that the Mayor's unbecoming actions against the sheriff may be penalized with a simple reprimand to dismissal from service. He added that it is up to the sheriff if he will pursue the case against Duterte.
Robredo also said that the DILG now investigates the incident.
