Good News: Football is getting more popular in the Philippines.
Bad News: The Foreigner/ Half-Pinoys are getting more popular than the Natives.
The 'rumored' rift inside the Azkals team was confirmed when Emelio Chieffy Caligdong, in his interview with Jessica Soho's State Of The Nation (July 4) , told the lady newscaster that there were some misunderstandings in the group.
The gist, Chieffy said something like this, "Hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon, magiging sunod-sunuran ang mga Pinoy sa kanila." Caligdong, however, was gentlemen enough to say that all were patched up.
Of course, it's normal for Caligdong to say that. He thinks and weighs about the team and the impact it would bring to their supporters and fans.
If you would notice, the competitive and humble Chieffy was the first one to score during the match against Sri Lanka in Rizal Memorial Stadium last Sunday (July 3). The pressure is on for the brave Iloilo star player to prove himself, that he can make it, regardless if he looks hot or not.
Well, he made it. That's admirable!
Truth be told: the mestizos, the handsome and tittilating half-Pinoy boys are the center of attention and attraction whenever the Azkals go places. Ladies swoon over them because they are, admittedly, guwapo.
Who gets to star in product endorsements? Of course the half-bloods conqure the TV and Print Ads. The pure Pinoys were always in the background, oftentimes doing a "support" role.
Don't get me wrong. Them half-bloods were Pinoys too, right? And it's not their fault if they look good!
Damn, what I am saying here, all should be treated fairly.
The mestizo players have a different culture, and the pure Pinoys too, have their own. You can't expect everyone to get along just fine. Misunderstandings are normal.
It's team effort, right? I just hope that every Azkals player be given the chance to shine, if you know what I mean.
